Life must have purpose because from the time you're born to the time you learn to walk, thought must take place. Where did it come from? In the Bible, the prophet Jeremiah tells us that God knew him before he was even formed in his mother's womb (Jeremiah 1:5). King David glorifies God because he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). He also encourages anyone that has life to praise God (Psalm 150:6). So, you can only imagine the attachment David felt to God and the desire God had when He created man. Why? Because God does not need us, He wants us.
I believe life is filled with many unanswered questions. Most human questions can be found in the Bible. For me, the Bible is the most sacred book. You want literature, the Bible has it; you want comfort or advice, the Bible has it; you want to learn about business and math, the Bible says, "...a just weight is his delight (Proverbs 11:1). You prove your life through the Bible so if you don't believe all these verses, crack open the Bible and read them yourself.
I base the core values and principles of my life on the Bible, not because I've grown up with it my whole life. I have tried it for myself, and I know that it works. In the Bible are commandments made by the Creator and it shows me what I am supposed to do as a Christian. What do I call truth? I define truth as something you believe is morally right. I believe everybody is created with a sixth sense, an intuition if you will that keeps talking to you before anyone else will. God calls it our conscience. With our conscience, we know what truth is and what is false. Since Adam ate from the Tree of Good and Evil, humans will always know what is right and wrong. Since Adam sinned, nothing on earth has been perfect. Death has come, physically and spiritually. There is greed, murder, lust, hate, disease, weeds, wars, anger, bitterness, and unrest. Sin is what drives humans to do wrong and it has led to the physical decay of this world [but God promised us a new heaven and new earth, which means heaven and earth must pass away]. With all this happening, you began to wonder if there is ever a bright side.
Through my worldview, I see the earth as a temporary place for me to be. Being here on earth is hard! I have to worry about my health, watch my money, make sure I have food and shelter, and even amid that life happens. You must learn how to deal with the pain of having someone close to you feel suddenly ripped away without little warning. You start to wonder if there is someone who cares that you are in pain; is there is someone who cares that your loved one is no longer around to share in your happiness? Yes, someone is always there. This is why Jesus Christ is the ultimate part of my life. Yes, I can let social media influence me. Society does such a good job of making their superstars seem so much more in-tuned with how life should be, be the truth is when they all lay their heads down to sleep for the night, they’re afraid of two things: Did I live my life purposefully? Am I going to wake up tomorrow? He may not be the most popular person on the planet but I have someone to keep me company when man fails me. Jesus. He will never fail me. What is my answer to life’s problems? Jesus. There is no amount of studying or psychoanalyzing to know God is the reason you may still be reading, right now. Crack open his Word, the Bible.
You may ask what is wrong with the world?
Answer: “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned…” (Romans 5:12). Sin entered because Adam and Eve disobeyed. They ate from a tree God commanded them not to eat [see Genesis 2-3 if you still do not believe me]. What is the nature of this world? “The heart [meaning a person's mind] is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). Man is the reason why the nature of this world is so ruthless. Another part of the Bible tells us the devil seeks [desires] our destruction. People let the devil influence them to do wrong because they feel they can get away with it. So, this brings up the final question.
Who am I?
My duty as a human being is to gain the closest relationship with God until I take my last breath. Every word, every action, every place, every song, in everything I do, I want to bring glory to God. Then, I pray that every person I meet will feel the presence of God through me. No, it’s not for superhero ratings, it is because Mak 16:15 commands Christians to “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” This is my life’s purpose and although I do not know my so-called calling in life entirely, I know I was created to serve God and help others serve Him in any way possible.
So what do you believe?
